About Me

Welcome to my blog...

I started this site a few years ago as an attempt to share random thoughts.  Now it is a place for me to share my story.

On Multiple Sclerosis
In February 2014, after several years of struggling with a variety of health issues, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.  Surprisingly, it was a relief to finally know what was causing my arms and legs to go numb, the random fluctuations in my vision, mobility, bladder and bowel control.  Now we know what the enemy is and we can come up with a plan, execute the plan, and keep on marching.  I plan to post status updates through out my learning process of living with a chronic disease.

On Triathlon, Health and Fitness
In 2007 I did my first triathlon with a neighbor friend in the shadows of the Cascade Range in Washington state and was hooked.  I was diagnosed with some chronic health issues shortly after that but somehow managed to pull off two more triathlons that season.  I have tri'd pregnant, with hip and back pain, and also with total bliss and happiness.  As of today I have done around 23 triathlons as sprints (400/500m swim, 12-15 mile bike, 5k  run) olympics (900m swim, 25-30mile bike, 10k run) and one 1/2 Ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 1/2 marathon).  I still love setting goals, training and showing up to race each year.  In 2014 I was selected as one of a handful of athletes sponsored by Kyle's Bikes in Ankeny.  I plan to post blogs along the way about fitness, training and health related ideas, race reports, etc.

On Life with Kids, A Full-Time Job, and Partner
I am a mom, partner and go to a full-time job most days.  We have a herd of animals (cats, dogs, chickens and in the past a lizard and goats) in our house as well.  My kiddos are adultish now so more time to garden my summers away so I suppose there will be random blogs related to the rest of my life.

Thanks for reading.
